Summary

On September 19, 1960, at Lincoln Air Force Base in Nebraska, a weather observer and tower operator sighted a very dim luminous object traveling southeast at a very high rate of speed. The object was observed at 0307 hours (3:07 a.m.), 030 degrees azimuth, and approximately 35 degrees elevation. The sighting lasted about 30 seconds from first sight to disappearance. The Air Force noted that the reported duration was excessive for a meteor and the object was probably a meteor.

10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING
Very dim luminous object sighted by weather observer and tower operators traveling ESE at a very high rate of speed. 030 azimuth, approx 35 elev.

11. COMMENTS
Information reported is limited. There was no satellite activity at the time, however, there was quite a bit of meteor activity reported over several parts of the U.S. The duration reported is excessive for a meteor, but it was eliminated and therefore is probably in error by several seconds. The object observed was probably a meteor.
