Summary

On February 12, 1956, a civilian reported a round object like a tire or hub-cap with red and yellow rotating lights near Aripeka, Florida. The sighting lasted approximately ten minutes. The object appeared to land or pass over the horizon and was observed through binoculars. The witness reported the sighting to Headquarters Strategic Air Command. SAC informed investigators that a B-47 and KC-97 aircraft were in the area at the time of the sighting and were not conducting refueling operations. The observer probably saw one of these aircraft. The Air Force evaluation was unknown.

10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING
One round object like a tire or hub-cap, red and yellow rotating lights. Seemed to land or pass over horizon. Seen thru binoculars.

11. COMMENTS
Called hq SAC for possible info on this sighting. We were informed that there was a B-47 and a KC-97 in the area of the sighting at the time of the sighting. They were not carrying out refueling operations. Observer probably saw one of the above a/c.
