Summary

On November 7, 1957, a civilian witnessed a round, disc-shaped object in Inwood, Long Island, New York. The object appeared to be about the size of a quarter and resembled a light bulb with trailing smoke. The sighting lasted two to three minutes. The object faded out during the observation. The witness was looking at the sky at the time. Weather conditions included thin broken cirrus clouds and smoke in the area. A senior controller noted the object was probably an aircraft sighted through smoke in the area. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as unidentified.
