Summary

On July 1, 1952, at 10:18 p.m., a bluish-white object appearing as a pinpoint of light was sighted passing over East Springfield, Massachusetts, at an unknown distance and estimated altitude of 40,200 feet. The object was under observation for approximately three seconds as it traveled in a flat trajectory. Due to its speed, the object appeared to skip over parens from 80 degrees elevation in the west to 90 degrees and to 30 degrees in the east at the point of gradual disappearance. No noise was heard. The sky was clear with unknown winds aloft. No physical evidence of sighting was available. No intercept or identification action was taken. No other air traffic was observed in the vicinity at the time of sighting.
