Summary

On October 10, 1955, a long shaft-shaped silver object with no vapor trails was reported near Marshall, Texas. The object was observed flying in a northwest direction with very erratic motion at altitudes estimated between 35,000 and 40,000 feet. One witness was a civilian who reported the sighting to the Marshall Texas News Messenger. The object became invisible during the sighting. A weather balloon launch occurred at the station at 8:15 a.m., but the officer at the station did not believe the balloon could be the sighting.
