Summary

On December 13, 1955, a flight crew saw a strange object while flying near Colorado Springs, Colorado. The report time in Greenwich time was about 1400Z. The sky was clear at dusk, and the observers were military.

The object was V shaped, with the point facing the direction of flight and the open end at the rear. It was about the size of a large aircraft. It had a white light at the front and a bluish trail or tail. It flew a straight, flat course high overhead. The crew watched it for about five to six seconds.

The copilot first noticed the object approaching from the east while their B-36 flew at 18,000 feet. The crew estimated the object was well above their aircraft and moving very fast. The two observers were combat crew members described as reliable.

The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force conclusion was astronomical (meteor).
