Summary
On April 15, 1962, observers in the Pacific northeast of Hawaii reported a vapor trail with a glowing object moving from east to west at very high altitude. The vapor trail was viewed for about 33 minutes, and the object itself was in sight for about 10 minutes. The Air Force noted the sighting was in an area where a missile launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base and sent down range could pass. No confirming data was available, but the report stated the object had all the characteristics of a missile. The record card concluded the sighting was a missile.
