Summary

On August 29, 1962, a military observer at Pacific location 23.34S 163.44W sighted an object with the brightness and size of Venus at 210 degrees azimuth and 5 degrees elevation. The observation lasted 4 minutes. The object moved east and showed irregular speed. The area had excellent visibility. One object was reported. The Air Force noted the sighting was possibly an aircraft but indicated there should have been radar pickup. No radar return or attempt to gain contact was made. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation.

Obj w/brightness & size of Venus sighted at 210dgr azimuth 5 dgr elevation in area of excellent visibility. Speed seemed irregular.
