Sea of Okhotsk USSR- Japanese area, November 1957November 1957

Insufficient Data

Summary

On November 26, 1957, an air crew flying at 15,000 feet near the Sea of Okhotsk in the USSR observed one object with a bluish-green trail. The object flashed from right to left in a flat downward trajectory, then arched down and exploded with a greenish-white flash. The sighting lasted 2 to 3 seconds. The Fifth Air Force ATLO office determined the object was a meteor based on the bright bluish-white light of short duration, the direction and termination by explosion, and the object's size being comparable to the planet Venus when viewed at night.
