Insufficient Data

Summary

On November 7, 1959, north of the Hawaiian Islands, a civilian aboard a ship observed a bright object that struck the water and made a low arc while emitting at least three flashes. The object was visible for twenty to thirty degrees of arc. The sighting occurred around 8:52 a.m. local time. One object was reported. The course was falling. Three reputable witnesses saw the event. The Air Force determined it was highly probable that the witnesses saw a meteor which appeared to strike the water, but in reality it passed below the horizon.
