Summary
On January 1, 1955, a military pilot flying a B-25 about 30 miles east of Cochise, New Mexico, reported one object while acting as an instructor. The sighting lasted a few minutes. The object moved from the east-southeast to the west-northwest.
The object was described as large, about 10 to 13 degrees across, metallic, and disc shaped, looking like two pie tins placed together at their rims. During the sighting, the object changed position so that both its edge and its circular surface faced the aircraft. It paralleled the aircraft and then disappeared after about seven minutes.
The Air Force record, filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, listed the conclusion as unidentified. The card noted a form was sent to the observer but no further investigation was directed by the headquarters.
