Summary

On February 28, 1958, at 4:03 p.m., a witness three miles west of Cleveland, Ohio reported seeing a brilliant orange flaming object. When first sighted, the object separated into five sections. The object was extremely low and traveled at slow speed. The sighting lasted about 10 seconds. Military and civilian sources observed the event. The description suggested a balloon based on many similar reports previously analyzed. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a balloon.
