Summary

On April 21, 1962, near Wake Island, military personnel observed a round pen-sized object at 3:30 a.m. The object had no tail or sound. It rose in a 330-degree direction at 35 degrees elevation after 6 minutes of light. It disappeared bearing 020 degrees true at 10 degrees elevation. The sighting lasted 8 minutes. Observers included an OOD, JOOD, operations officer, lookout, and quartermaster. The Air Force evaluated the case as a satellite.

Round pen sized object white. No tail or sound viewed in 330 at 35 elevation after 0 min light. Sighting at night in ship with aid of binoculars.

11. COMMENTS
At 0750Z on 22 April Raho was at 30 N 15 E. EX heading NE. This would be visible in reported location and all other factors confirm to a satellite sighting. Case evaluated as Raho I.
