MKUltra Subproject 130

· 31 pages

Summary

Subproject 130 paid for psychological research on hospitalized patients, starting in November 1960. A project summary in the file states the purpose: to study the value of assessment concepts derived from the Wechsler (a standard psychological test) on hospitalized patients with varying patterns of symptoms. The work was done under a grant to a contractor whose name is redacted, at a cost of $13,570. A status note in the same summary calls the work a series of studies that had been very productive to date.

A memo dated November 29, 1960 orders a payment of $13,570 by cashier's check, routed through TSD's research branch and due by mid-December. It warns that this was not a final invoice, that additional funds would be budgeted for the project, and that the files should not be closed.

The rest of the surviving file is accounting paperwork: confidential funds posting vouchers and obligation ledgers from roughly 1960 to 1963, with most names and account details redacted or illegible.
