Summary
MKUltra Subproject 109 funded research from July 1960 to November 1961. The project spent $21,923.20 total. It aimed to develop bioassay and pharmacodynamic techniques in the field of enzymology required in the RD chemical agent program. The surviving paperwork shows financial allocations of $5,270 per quarter. One budget report from September 1963 to August 1965 shows total expenses of $21,080.00, including personnel costs of $2,114.25, supplies and materials of $3,052.44, equipment of $11,544.79, and travel of $1,470.96. A principal investigator with a Ph.D. led the work at a College of Pharmacy. The program status noted that preliminary survey work was not yet completed eight months into the project.
