Summary

On November 7, 1961, a civilian in Washington, D.C., reported an object at about 6:48 p.m. local time. The witness was a student at American University. The object looked like the morning star, the same size and a star color. One object was seen. It appeared round. It moved rather fast in relation to the area, to the left of the Little Dipper and lateral to the dipper's stem, then made a right turn of about 45 degrees. The witness did not watch it disappear. The sighting lasted about 3 to 4 minutes. The sky was clear. The Air Force concluded the object was probably a high-flying aircraft, with no evidence it was anything else.
