Summary

On May 9, 1959, at about 2313Z, at night, a witness in Wilmington, Delaware, reported a bright object. The sighting was reported through the Air Force's unidentified flying object record system.

The observer described a round object that looked small, like a nickel, with a bright light. It then moved away very fast. There was no trail and no sound. The witness noticed it moving from south to north, then it climbed at about 45 degrees and moved off to the east, where it diminished and went out of sight. It was visible for about 5 minutes.

The record card did not list a stated cause for the sighting.
