Project Blue Book Case File
Mooseheart, IllinoisJuly 1959
Summary
On a July evening in 1959, members of a group at Mooseheart, Illinois saw a silvery disc-shaped object in the sky to the south, in the general direction of Aurora. The sighting occurred around 8 p.m., near sunset. The witnesses reported that scattered clouds filled the sky, but not around the object itself. Beyond these basic details, the case file contains very little information about what the witnesses observed or how long they watched the object.
The Air Force's formal evaluation of this sighting does not appear in the available pages of this case file. The case consists of eight scanned pages from microfilm, but most of those pages document unrelated sightings in Washington State from the same period. The Mooseheart sighting itself is recorded only on the initial report form and one brief handwritten note.
The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, consisting of 8 pages.
