Summary

On October 19, 1952, a GAP pilot and observer near Momence, Illinois, reported seeing a round silver ball flying at high speed at 1,000 feet altitude while on a search mission. The sighting occurred between 10:15 a.m. and 10:36 a.m. The pilot of aircraft number 3705 was flying slowly at about 90 miles per hour on a search when the object was spotted. The pilot could be reached through Hanalee Squadron at GAP, Illinois Wing, located in Chicago. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as probably a balloon.
