Summary

On the night of May 1, 1963, a fifteen-year-old boy in Silver Grove, Kentucky reported seeing two unidentified objects moving southward through the sky at 10:15 p.m. He watched for one and a half to five minutes before the objects disappeared. According to the case file summary, the objects' characteristics suggested they were likely aircraft.

The Air Force investigated the report through a standard questionnaire. However, the case file notes that this witness had filed many previous UFO reports, all of which had been explained as stars, planets, aircraft, or misidentifications of conventional objects. The investigator also observed that the teenager enjoyed science fiction and expressed a belief in "flying saucers," which the file suggests may have colored his interpretation of what he saw.

In the final assessment, investigators concluded the report should be rejected from serious consideration. The Air Force's official evaluation listed the case as "Unknown," though the accompanying notes indicate officers believed the sighted objects were probably aircraft. The decision to dismiss the report centered on what investigators described as the "unreliability of the observer."
