Summary
On June 9, 1955, a civilian in San Diego, California saw a single object. It was still in sight at the time the report was made. The object drifted to the southwest.
The object was round and silver, estimated to be six to eight feet across, at an altitude of about 1,000 feet. It appeared to drift to the southwest.
The Air Force noted that winds aloft at the time were blowing southwest at all altitudes up to 80,000 feet. The description matched a balloon. Officials resolved the case as probably a balloon.
