Summary

On December 17, 1952, several U.S. Naval employees reported seeing objects over San Diego, California. The sightings happened in the afternoon, between about 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. The case was investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

Witnesses described cigar-shaped objects that traveled at a high rate of speed on a pulsating course. The explanations given by the observers varied. Investigators noted the witnesses appeared to be well-qualified people who disagreed about how the objects performed, but agreed they were not conventional aircraft.

The report record raised the question of whether the observers may have actually seen jet aircraft in the area. The investigating office said no further action was planned and considered its files closed. The record card does not give a single clear conclusion.
