Summary

On August 2, 1955, a civilian in Sacramento, California reported seeing an egg-shaped, flat amber object about the size of a pea. The object appeared in the south, moved southwest, and disappeared overhead. The witness observed it for 45 seconds through binoculars. The Air Force investigated and concluded the sighting was probably caused by the exhaust or after-burner of a jet aircraft. The amber color and flat, egg-shaped appearance when viewed from certain angles matched what jet exhaust would look like.
