Summary

On April 23, 1954, at about 5:32 a.m. local time in Pittsfield, Maine, two ground witnesses reported one object for about four minutes. They described a circular, saucer-shaped object with a dome on top and a brilliant, steadily flashing light. It was the size of a silver dollar at arm's length and silver in color. The object moved up and down, then horizontally. It gave off a sound like a swarm of bees and a whirlwind with a cooling effect beneath its path. Witnesses said it moved stones on the ground. The object rose straight up out of sight. The Air Force listed the cause as unknown.
