Summary

On March 3, 1956, at 3:07 a.m. local time, a civilian witness in Paradise, Michigan reported observing a round object that was bright red in color and approximately 40 to 50 feet in diameter. The object appeared to be floating up and down and gradually dropping out of sight below the horizon. The sighting lasted 10 to 15 minutes. The object drifted northwest and eventually passed beyond the horizon. The witness reported winds from the northwest at high velocity. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as an unknown object.
