Summary

On September 21, 1961, near Oahu, Hawaii, observers reported a large lighted object. It looked like a big circular area of high intensity light with a dark outer rim, giving a doughnut shape. It traveled at about orbital speed and left a faint glow or trail. It looked like a light that grew brilliant as it got closer. The sighting lasted about 6 minutes. The Air Force evaluated the object as moving at orbital speed, pointing to a satellite.
