Summary
On June 18, 1963, at about 6:41 a.m. local time, an object was reported over Oahu, Hawaii. The main witness was Major Armand Parker, a military officer. His wife and another military officer also saw it. The report came in as a CIRVIS message and was recorded in Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The witnesses described one large fireball with a long fiery tail and a yellow tint. It was much larger than a star. It was first seen at about 60 degrees elevation and burned out near 15 degrees. It headed about 051 degrees true and moved very fast. The whole sighting lasted about 2.5 to 3 seconds.
The Air Force said the short duration and the description matched a fireball. The case was evaluated as a meteor.
