Summary

In October 1956, a civilian witness in New York City reported seeing two small, white or silver disc shaped objects flying together in the sky. Each object had what the witness described as a globe extending from the middle of the disc to its edge. The objects moved slowly southward at first, then turned and climbed slowly out of sight. The sighting lasted ten to twenty minutes and was observed from the ground.

The District Office of Special Investigations in New York received the witness's account and a sketch. The case file indicates that investigators considered the sighting might have been caused by an aircraft, based on the description and flight path of the objects. However, the Air Force's formal evaluation of the sighting was listed as unknown.

The full case file, consisting of 7 pages as held by the National Archives, is reproduced below.
