NEW YORK, NEW YORKMarch 1955

Insufficient Data

Summary

In early March 1955, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard area in New York, a housewife and two marines reported an object near the George Washington Bridge. It appeared as a white flickering light, about the size of a baseball held at arm's length. Its speed was estimated at about 170 miles per hour.

An investigation by a detachment found that the light was possibly searchlight activity. A pilot flying over the area noted searchlight activity at the time of the sighting.

The Air Force listed the object as possibly spotlight or searchlight activity. The case is recorded under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
