Summary

On April 1, 1960, north of Worden, Oregon, a woman driving on US Highway 97 reported seeing a round silver-white object approximately five inches in diameter. The object was flying straight and appeared to change color to red before exploding in a puff of white smoke. The sighting lasted about one half minute. A helicopter search of the area found negative results. The Air Force investigation concluded the object was likely a large white Emperor snow goose that had been recently killed. The goose was found in a muddy field that had been recently flooded for irrigation. The white feathers and blood could account for the color change and white cloud described by the witness.
