Summary
On November 1, 1957, at 8:22 p.m., a civilian observer in the Atlantic off the coast of North Carolina reported sighting one object. The witness described a large pink illumination bearing 030 degrees, covering one quarter hemisphere, with a speed of 16 knots and wind of 339 degrees. The object disappeared at 2:22 a.m. and reappeared briefly at 3:44 a.m., bearing 314 degrees with an appearance similar to ionized gas. The sighting lasted several hours. No Air Force evaluation was provided in the available documentation.
