Summary

On July 30, 1957, near Santa Maria, California, six objects with a round size and basket-like color were sighted moving in a straight line. Objects were described as five balls of fire that faded in fog. The sighting was made by a civilian observer near or in a fog bank at sunset. The Air Force noted that sunset may possibly have caused an illusion of fireballs within the fog bank and that conditions were conducive to mirage present.
