Manhasset (Roslyn)m, New YorkJuly 1955
Summary
On July 5, 1955, a bright light was sighted over Manhasset, New York, crossing the sky from west to east at an estimated altitude of 15,000 feet. A civilian witness observed the object from a terrace in Roslyn for 6 to 12 seconds. Local thunderstorms and cloud cover existed at 20,000 feet in the area. Nassau Police were also investigating a separate burning object that hit a tree in Flower Hill, New York, which appeared to be a lightbulb and battery, possibly from weather apparatus. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation due to the lack of information and improbability of further investigation yielding significant data.
