Summary

On March 4, 1961, a weather observer at Lakenheath, England, reported an object falling toward earth. It was seen about 11:52 p.m. at an elevation of about 62 degrees and an azimuth of 272 degrees. The object moved from west to east, an estimated 20 to 25 miles away. It burned bright blue and white and gave off red sparks.

On Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, the conclusion was probably astronomical. Comments said there was no satellite reentry that date and that the color and general description matched a meteor sighting.
