Kadena, Okinawa 26.21N 128.12E, April 1962April 1962
Summary
On April 23, 1962, military observers near Kadena, Okinawa (about 20-21N 120-12E) reported one star-like object the size of the North Star and white in color. The object moved across the sky to the northwest and was watched for about 10 minutes. It was first seen on the horizon at about 225 degrees azimuth and then disappeared. The Air Force compared the position and orbital flight with the known track of the Echo satellite and found it consistent. The record card concluded the sighting was Echo I.
