Summary

On December 3, 1957, at 12:00 a.m., a military observer at Johnson Island AFB reported sighting one object. The object had the shape of a shooting star and was colored green. It turned brighter green as it moved out of sight. The object was not as fast as a shooting star. The object was first sighted approximately 45 degrees off the horizon. In the southwest, it turned brighter green and continued bright green until out of sight. An Air Force evaluation concluded the sighting was a bolide based on the color and speed of the object.
