Summary

On April 11, 1958, near Indio, California, a civilian witness reported seeing a round, red object that appeared to fall and explode. The witness was outside loading an automobile when he looked up and spotted the object forty-five degrees above the horizon to the east. The object traveled from southwest to northeast and seemed to explode after approximately fifteen seconds. It then blew up and disappeared within one minute. The sighting was ground-visual and lasted one minute total. No photos were taken. The Air Force concluded the sighting was unidentified.
