Summary

On January 16, 1957, a civilian observer in Glenwood Springs, Colorado reported seeing one circular, clear, bright light in the sky. The object was described as small and orange and was seen in the east-southeast at 45 degrees elevation while climbing. The observer watched the object for eight minutes through a three-power K-3 telescope. The object was still in sight after the initial visual observation. According to the comments section, the object was definitely established to have been a balloon released from Grand Junction at 3 p.m. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a probable balloon.
