Summary

On October 5, 1955, in Ellensburg, Washington, a civilian observer reported two round objects about the size of a football held together by what appeared to be a red band. The sighting lasted four minutes. The objects were first seen at approximately 60 degrees altitude and disappeared by fading at 60 degrees altitude. The witness observed the objects through binoculars. The objects appeared transparent. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a balloon.
