Summary

On December 13, 1956, at 2:43 p.m. local time, a military observer at Hamilton Air Force Base in California sighted one spherical object of unknown size. The object emitted an intense blue-white light and traveled in a straight line flight path tracking approximately 270 degrees directly overhead. The sighting lasted 6 seconds. The observation was made from the ground at night by Captain Alvin Haas, a 26th Air Division aircrew member. Local flight facilities provided corroborating evidence. No preliminary analysis was completed. The Air Force evaluation concluded the sighting was probably a meteor.
