Summary

On August 20, 1960, a civilian in Concord, California, three miles northwest of town, reported a white object with red and white lights at star size. The object had no noticeable tail or exhaust and made no sound. It moved abruptly - suddenly appeared, hovered, then rose straight up and disappeared in about three minutes. The observer noted all movement occurred in a very small area. The Air Force determined the object was a refraction of the star Vega, which was in the position given by the observer with a magnitude of 0.1. The case was listed as a refraction of star Vega.
