Summary

On August 1, 1957, near Livingston, Montana, the crew of a Ringbolt 54 B-47 aircraft flying at 37,000 feet reported sighting a long green flame coming from some object at 33,000 feet. The object was observed flying over Livingston at 9:40 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. There was no visual trace of the aircraft in daylight. At the time of the sighting, cloud conditions were thick, weather was dry with a slight breeze, and temperature was warm. The Air Force evaluation listed the conclusion as unknown.
