On March 31, 1953, at about 1355 (1:55 p.m.) Mountain time, civilians reported an object near Conrad, Montana. The report reached the 26th Air Division. The witnesses, a family, watched from a ground observer post.
The object was round, very large, and bright white. When moving it had a tail sticking out, and when stopped it was round. It made no sound and traveled very slowly. The sky was clear with very few clouds. A nearby radar site was alerted with negative results. The Air Force noted the planet Venus was very bright and low on the horizon at that time and that the observers said the object moved very slowly.
