Project Blue Book Case File
Kalispell, MontanaJanuary 1955
Summary
On January 10, 1955, residents of Kalispell, Montana reported a bright flash of light followed by a loud explosion. The object moved at high speed across the sky.
The Air Force's investigation found no aircraft in the area at the time. The file notes that several other reports of similar events came in from approximately the same time. One witness described seeing an oblong object moving rapidly, though the OCR quality of much of the case file makes it difficult to confirm additional specific details about the sighting itself.
The Air Force concluded that the bright flash, loud explosion, and high speed of the object suggested it was probably a meteorite. The case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 9 pages.
