Summary
On September 30, 1960, a civilian in Boulder, Colorado, reported an object at 0840 (about 9:40 p.m. local), at night under a bright, clear sky. The witness, who had radar and electronics experience in the Navy, described a bright greenish-white object shaped like an inverted cone, about the size of a basketball, with flashing lights. It was first seen about 25 degrees up to the north-northwest, then moved slowly to the northeast and faded slowly. The sighting lasted about 32 minutes. The sky was clear with visibility over 15 miles. The witness was considered reliable. The Air Force listed the case as possibly the star Vega.
