Summary

# Buffalo, New York, September 1956

On a single night in Buffalo, one observer saw an unusual object in the sky. The sighting was brief in substance, though it prompted a swift Air Force response.

The observer reported a round object, larger than a typical star, colored yellow. The object moved up and down in the sky and appeared to be quite low on the horizon. The sighting lasted about one hour. An Air Force aircraft was scrambled to locate and identify the object, but the pilot found nothing in the area when he arrived.

In its evaluation, the Air Force concluded the sighting had characteristics typical of an astronomical body, such as a bright star or planet. The case file notes that positional data was not included in the original report, which may have complicated efforts to track the object's location and movement.
