Project Blue Book Case File
New Mexico, OklahomaMay 1952
Summary
On May 28 and 29, 1952, over an area from near Albuquerque, New Mexico, to near Tulsa and Enid, Oklahoma, crews of five B-29 aircraft reported unidentified objects during a night training mission. The sightings were made visually from about 25,000 feet.
The crews described objects that closely resembled meteors. They appeared globe shaped, greenish, and glowing, and were visible for less than a minute each. Most traveled level or in an arc along a horizontal path, with one exception that seemed to trail off toward the ground. The size could not be determined, but observers compared them to a Very flare seen at about 100 yards.
Separate sightings were logged near Otto, New Mexico, east of Albuquerque, and southwest of Tulsa and northwest of Enid, Oklahoma. No physical evidence or photographs were obtained and no intercept action was taken. The crews said they were familiar with meteors and gave the opinion that the objects were not meteors. The report was evaluated as Probably Astronomical.
