Summary

On September 1, 1962, near Antigo, Wisconsin, a civilian reported observing a cylindrical object about 50 feet in diameter and 100 feet long. The object was fluorescent bluish green and tumbled end over end across the night sky. The witness, positioned about 10 miles south of Antigo at the intersection of Routes 45 and 52, initially observed the object at 300 degrees azimuth and 60 degrees elevation. It fell to zero elevation at 120 degrees azimuth over approximately 10 to 15 seconds. The object appeared to be falling toward the earth in a straight line and seemed to land about 10 miles east of the observer's location. The object resembled an aircraft fuselage on fire. The sighting lasted 10 to 15 seconds. No radar contact was detected in the local area. The Air Force investigation found no possible cause for the sighting and concluded the evaluation was unknown.

10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING 11. COMMENTS
Cylindrical object about 50 feet in Duration too short for decay. No
diameter and 100 feet long. Fluorescent decay for 1 September. Characteristics
blueish green color observed tumbling of meteor sighting are present. Speed
end over end. Obj lit up windshield would be rather slow; however, still
area of car. Initial observation at consistent with this analysis.
60 dgrs elevation 300 dgr azimuth
falling to zero elevation 120 azimuth.
Appeared like a/c fuselage on fire.
Sighting estimated at 10-15 seconds.
No radar contact in local area.
