Summary

On September 28, 1955, near Brownville, Maine, a civilian witness reported seeing a round object that changed colors from red to green to yellow. The object made no sound and appeared to drop and rise for about two hours. The witness observed it between 10:45 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. local time. An interceptor was sent up but unable to make contact. Ground observers and telescope users watched the object. The Air Force concluded the sighting was the star Arcturus, which sets at 10:30 p.m. at 300 degrees azimuth.
