Summary

On November 6, 1957, two aircraft reported visual sightings over the Atlantic Ocean near 23 degrees north latitude and 17 degrees west. One aircraft at 13,000 feet and another at 16,000 feet both observed an unidentified object heading at approximately 25 degrees. Pilot LCDR Clayton reported a brilliant flash of blue-white light appearing brighter than a star, with an approximate course of 270 degrees and a purple ring surrounding it. Visibility was excellent with winds from the south at 45 knots at 5,000 feet. A second aircraft from Kelly Air Force Base in Texas also reported the sighting. The time of report from both aircraft was 2:41 a.m. No Air Force evaluation is provided on the available pages.
